The Parish Council receives details of planning applications from Harrogate Borough Council (HBC) and is consulted on them. It can submit
it's views (taking into account the views of local residents), but HBC primarily looks to the parish council to provide local insight and may not follow it's view.
The Parish Council can only agree a response to an application at a Parish Council meeting and any comments from residents for consideration should be sent through prior to the relevant meeting.
You should always send your comments to both the Parish Council and HBC. Please make sure you do this within the deadline period.
How it works
As soon as the Parish Council is notified of a planning application, this page will be updated with the reference number of the application. You will be able to find more details on this (and all planning applications) at the Harrogate Borough Council website.

The Parish Council will consider the views of local residents when assessing planning applications before submitting a response to HBC.
When considering resident feedback, the Parish Council is not obliged to either reflect or follow these comments in its final response to HBC. The Parish Council is responsible for looking at applications across the impact and benefit of the entire parish and not just individual residents and this will always be the considered and consultative approach it will take.
The date of the meeting at which the application is to be discussed will be published on the Parish Council website and is also published on the village notice board. Whilst residents can attend these formal meetings, only councillors are able to speak which is why you must make sure all comments are submitted beforehand.
Unfortunately, any comments received after the Parish Council meeting date cannot be considered. However, you can still forward your comments directly to HBC if it is still within the deadline period.
